Activities at Prince's Grant Golf Estate

Prince's Grant has a magnificent outlook on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast. A superb course designed by Peter Matkovich, with loads of tradition.

The course, built in undulating hills which were once sugarcane fields, is both a visual feast and a wonderfully varied challenge for all levels of golfers.

Each set of holes are located in their own environment, separate from the others.  The finishing five holes are all superb, and each is different. What they all do is provide options off the tee, inviting the better golfers to take tiger lines, but leaving bail-out areas for higher handicaps. The 14th is a narrow, flat, linksy hole, the 15th a par five played from one of the most spectacularly elevated tees in golf, from where you have a dramatic view of the Indian Ocean coastline all the way to Ballito. No 16 is a short par four guarded by a wetland on the left. This is a hole the longer hitter can attempt to drive, but without much margin for error. It is followed by a par three with a long, narrow green bordered on the left by indigenous bush. The tee shot asks for a draw, but lose it left and you're in big trouble. You end with another par five, curving gently left off the tee, with a stream that turns around the front of the green, and runs down the left side of the fairway.

From there it's back to the clubhouse, and a refreshing drink sitting on the wide veranda that overlooks the opening holes of each nine, and out towards the Indian Ocean.
